Various Kinds of Religious Literature

I have noticed three subcategories in the field of religious literature. Here they are.

1) Sacred scripture (e.g. the Bible, the Bhagavad Gita, the Qur'an). These are historical texts that have been preserved for many generations. For some people, reading these texts suffice for their spiritual journey. Myths can also be included in this subcategory. However, there is more in religious literature than this subcategory.

2) Books on religion by anybody. These people focus on one or more topics surrounding religion and try to write about it or them to the best of their capacity.

3) Religious fiction. One example would be Letters to St. Lydia. You can find the podcast about it on Ancient Faith Radio's feature Speaking of Books.

I think this is relevant to write about because three of the books I will write posts on are related to 2).
